Cup of Coffee

I have known you from a distance, and I've always liked your style

I've been aware of your existence for a while.

Though we've never even spoken, we've exchanged a glance and smile

I don't know why, you and I shouldn't give it a try

If it's just a cup of coffee

Or it's just a glass of wine

It's just two friendly people sharing time

Just to hear each other's voices,

Look into each other's eyes

For whatever they find,

The magic inside

I share your hesitation, knowing who we used to be.

There was you before with yours and mine with me.

But they moved on to new lives, maybe we should do the same.

Nothing to lose, nobody to blame, maybe something to gain.

If it's just a cup of coffee

Or it's just a glass of wine

It's just two friendly people sharing time

Just to hear each other's voices,

Look into each other's eyes

For whatever they find,

The magic inside

In every coffee shop or wine bar, you see them.  Two strangers meet for the first time, prearranged after meeting online.  You never know until you meet for real, look into their eyes, and hear them speak.

These people haven't given up!  They're out there, risking one more disappointment on the off-chance that they'll meet that one person that completes them.
